ColtonO
So it was brought to my attention that there are people using alternatives for the WASD keys (W=forward, A=left, S=backwards, D=right). I've heard of some seriously random shizz going on with the NUM pad and other keys over towards that side. Never really thought about this though - ESDF. So basically everything just shifted over. WTF is the point of that I naturally asked. lol Well it turns out it sorta makes sense. The F key is where your left index finger is suppose to be on the keyboard, it's part of the home row. Even has a little bump on the key. Also having it being shifted over gives your pinky easier access to more keys like A and Z. Plus you get an extra key for your ring finger. (mind starting to get blown) Then it turns out GeT_RiGhT from Ninjas in Pyjamas uses RDFG. So it's shifted over even more opening up even more keys. Making things like binds and just rearranging what's where more of a possibility. (mind blown) I use binds for everything, buy binds, use binds, the lot. Don't recall the last time I even opened the buy menu in game haha. So I found this rather interesting. To most of you, probably couldn't care less, for the tinkerers out there though, could be fun. What do you use? The tried tested and true WASD, or perhaps something a little different? Post your setups and why even if it is just a couple keys out of the norm
SylenT
When I first started playing CS.. i used the arrow keys.. yea the arrow keys. ctrl was crouch and the 0 on the numbe rpad was jump. Honestly its been so long I don't remember what I used for the rest of the actions.. but it really didn't make sense. I used to turn the keyboard a little to make it more comfortable. One day I realized that i was better off with WASD obvi.
Hilikus
I don't think my brain will let me use anything other than WASD. The only custom binds I'm using are: bind "f" "use weapon_flashbang" bind "c" "use weapon_hegrenade" bind "mouse3" "use weapon_smokegrenade" bind "\" "sm_admin" bind "capslock" +voicerecord - gonna change this one soon. Besides binds for buying, what other things would you bind?
Puss in Boots
I still use the arrow keys. Have for over 10 years. Old dog, new tricks, etc.

These are for on your team's private server with sv_cheats enabled. In case you don't know noclip enables you to fly around through walls and the give weapon ones just makes the corresponding item fall to the ground at your feet if you already have it. bind "v" "noclip" bind "h" "give weapon_smokegrenade" bind "j" "give weapon_flashbang"
sounds interesting but what about shift and ctrl?
I haven't tried ESDF out yet but I intend to. I have decent size hands, my pinky has no problems reaching Ctrl. TBH it feels kinda cramped trying to reach Ctrl using WASD. Gohda
I bind V to admin, swap shift to crouch and ctrl to walk. Everything else is default WASD. I used to play with alt as the reload key but changed back to R a while back. Maybe this is why I'm so good?

Dark Knight
right click as jump works well, used it when i did matches..don't use it in casual servers though and left right click to "change from semi-automatic to single fire" aka "useless key"

Metal
Hollow why do you use tracers? They don't actually go where the bullets go, it's just a fake visual representation. Every pro config i've seen has had them disabled, it's just one less thing to distract you.
ColtonO
Spacebar for walk, Shift for crouch = mind blown haha. Not to mention whatever Christine's got going on lol I may give some of these things a whirl The tracers do actually go where the bullet hits, there is just a slight delay due to how the engine works. It's not like BF3 where the bullets are treated like projectiles and the tracer just is the bullet. Also good'ol bullet drop and such. jOkeR
I know my set up has confused some people, but its what ive always used and it works. WASD, except W is jump. Space is crouch, Shift is walk. Left mouse is fire, middle mouse for zoom/alt, scroll either way to go through weapons, right mouse is run. E is use and TS toggle, and i never talk in game, i thinks its k or something lol
